Consultations

As an animal communicator, my work is understanding animals and their people through images, feelings, sensations, thoughts, and deep knowing that is not based on currently accepted societal ways of relating to each other. I believe we all used to communicate like this and will one day again do this. In the meantime, I assist with helping you and your animal friend to understand each other, and with understanding what might be out of harmony.
Remember, I am not a Veterinarian and I don't diagnose or treat diseases. The information from each session can often be taken to a Veterinarian to help them understand your animal more fully.
New clients need between forty-five minutes to an hour for the first session. Subsequent sessions are between a half hour and an hour. This is something  it's best not to rush.
Sometimes one question can take quite awhile, and we may have to go deeper to tease out the answer in a way that everyone understands. Deep, emotional questions can have fairly complex answers and it helps to be patient and work together as we go through the session, speaking up when things feel right to you, and when things don’t.
Animal Communication sessions are fine to do on the phone, and is at least a three way discussion - you, your animal friend(s) and myself. It's important that you (the person) are in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Please make sure you are not operating machinery or in a situation where you will be interrupted for the duration of our time. You and your animal friend(s)  should be comfortable and content so you can focus on the session. Beforehand, it often helps to write out the questions, issues and things you want to say to/ask your animals, and feel free to share this list with me before the session.
If at any point you have questions for me or don’t understand or something doesn’t feel right, speak up! This is a conversation, not a lecture, and it really helps to have everyone’s participation, permission and willingness.  I work under a Code of Ethics and permission is absolutely necessary. Sessions are meant to give caregivers/partners/friends a fuller picture of the physical/emotional/spiritual/energetic issues surrounding their animal, and how they might be feeling/sensing/thinking about the issues at hand.
In each session I work in a very focused way on getting out of the way and letting a greater picture come through. This is not just chatting, this is about tuning into a subtle, natural intelligence and a greater resonance, then determining where the situation presenting is out of harmony with the greater natural harmony of you and your animal(s), and doing my best to communicate that to everyone involved. It is so helpful to take the attitude of working together as a team. I often have been likened to a marriage counselor - helping everyone to understand the other points of views when we often use different languages.

Your animal communication session is a special time for you and your animal friend. I consider it a privilege and an honor to work in this way with you and your animal friends, and I take your privacy, dignity and cooperation very seriously.

What is Animal Communication?
A telepathic animal communication consultation is an opportunity for you to have a two-way conversation with your animal friend, with myself acting as the translator or interpreter. You can ask questions about matters that are important to you or problems you may be having in your relationship, or just tell them how great they are! Basically, telepathy is being able to understand what another being is thinking and feeling, and I am here to help you both understand each other better. My work is to help you be more aware of the clear and loving connection between you and your animal friend so that you can better understand each other and go forward in a more cooperative, healthy way. I will communicate your animals’ viewpoints, feelings, perspectives, and other relevant information that can help to create more cooperation and a deeper relationship between you and your animal friend.

In a telepathic animal communication consultation, we go from what is known about the situation from your viewpoint, to the unknown—what the animal thinks and feels about the situation. To this end, there will be questions asked at the beginning and throughout the call that are important to answer honestly.Animal companions are generally very happy and often relieved when we reach out to understand their point of view, and often will give us a new perspective on how to handle issues you may be having with them. Sometimes other modalities that may be helpful (particular types of behavorial training, massage, etc) are suggested, and I am trained to provide assistance with Flower Essences, Integrated Energy Therapy (energy healing) and Angel Therapy long distance to facilitate emotional, spiritual, and physical balance. Ultimately, you are in charge of your and your animals' health and well-being.

Your animal does not need to be with you at the time of the consultation. They may be in another location, sleeping, or wherever they choose. It is important that you are in a place for the consult where you will be undisturbed and can focus on what is being said. For instance, please do not try to participate in a consultation when you are driving or in an environment where people or sounds may be disturbing you. Your focus is an integral part of the session. Your animal just needs to be comfortable and relaxed as much as possible, and it helps to talk with them beforehand about what is happening.

Animal communication is not a substitute for appropriate veterinary care. Although I may be able to sense where an animal is feeling discomfort in his or her body and communicate to you how the animal feels about what is going on, I cannot diagnose or treat medical problems. Please consult with a veterinarian for any physical or medical difficulties your animal may be having. Animal Communication is one of several important adjuncts to proper medical care, including behavioral training, good nutrition, exercise and fresh air and water.

Animal Communication is not about trying to control another being or tell the future.

As in any conversation with a human being, each one says and does what they want to, based on many factors. Just because we have discovered that we can talk to/listen to our animal friends, doesn't mean that these beings will necessarily do anything differently. But they often do change, and will try to, just because they love us.  It would be like me walking up to you and saying "Excuse me, your partner would like you to stop squeezing the toothpaste from the topside. Could you squeeze it from the bottom only, every time now?"  You would have to think about it, determine if this request really came from your loved one, make a choice based on that information, and then remember each time to do that new thing. You may or may not do it because you have free will in your life (so do they), but most likely you will try because you love them and want harmony(most of the time). So do they.  And at the very least, it changes things to know that someone cares enough to reach out to communicate with you.  If there are other issues complicating things, we will work together to tease those issues out and get to a better place for the household. I will give you as much information as I can to help your animal friends and you the best I can. This may be a point where other modalities that can help are suggested and discussed.

Remembering our inherent connectedness, my work is meant to encourage kindness and cooperation among all forms of life on this planet. Animal Communication is based on joy and the oneness of all life. I consider this my life's work.

Code of Ethics for Interspecies Telepathic Communicators

Our motivation is compassion for all beings and a desire to help all species understand each other better, particularly to help restore the lost human ability to freely and directly communicate with other species.
We honor those that come to us for help, not judging, condemning or invalidating them for their mistakes or misunderstanding but honoring their desire for change and harmony.
We know that to keep this work as pure and harmonious as possible requires that we continually grow spiritually. We realize that telepathic communication can be clouded or overlaid by our own unfulfilled emotions, critical judgments, or lack of love for self and others.  We walk in humility, willing to recognize and clear up our own errors in understanding others' communication (human and non-human alike).
We cultivate knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of human, non-human and interspecies behavior and relationships, to increase the good results of our work.  We get whatever education and/or personal help we need to do our work effectively, with compassion, respect, joy and harmony.
We seek to draw out the best in everyone and increase understanding toward mutual resolution of problems.  We go only where we are asked to help, so that others are receptive and we can truly help. We respect the feelings and ideas of others and work for interspecies understanding, not pitting one side against another but walking with compassion for all.  We acknowledge the things that we cannot change and continue where our work can be most effective.
We respect the privacy of people and animal companions we work with, and honor their desire for change.
While doing our best to help, we allow others their own dignity and help them to help their animal companions. We cultivate understanding and ability in others, rather than dependence on our ability. We offer people ways to be involved in understanding and growth with their fellow beings of other species.
We acknowledge our limitations, seeking help from other professionals as needed. It is not our job to name and treat diseases, and we refer people to veterinarians for diagnosis of physical illness.  We may relay animals' ideas, feeling, pains, symptoms, as they describe them or as we feel or perceive them, and this may be helpful to veterinary health professionals. We may also assist through handling of stresses, counseling, and other gentle healing methods.  We let clients decide for themselves how to work with healing their animal companions' distress, disease, or injury, given all the information above.
The goal of any consultation, lecture, workshop, or interspecies experience is more communication, balance, compassion, understanding, and communion among all being. We follow our heart, honoring the spirit and life of all beings as One.

This Code of Ethics was formulated by Penelope Smith in 1999
